Meet Dr Georgie Taylor

I am Dr Georgie Taylor, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist working in Cheltenham and the surrounding areas. I specialise in the psychological and emotional wellbeing of children, young people, their parents, and carers. I am passionate about helping individuals achieve positive, long-lasting change through the delivery of evidence-based psychological therapy. My specialism is working with children who have experienced trauma, their families, and the professionals around them.

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Exeter in 2013 and have worked in a range of NHS, Social Care, and independent mental health settings since 2003. I now work from my private practice in Cheltenham.

I am trained in multiple, effective, and evidence-based models including trauma-informed, attachment-based, systemic, and cognitive-behavioural. As such, I am well positioned to work with a range of difficulties, including but not limited to, anxiety disorders, trauma, low mood, and depression.

About Clinical Psychologists

Clinical psychologists work by supporting and guiding people towards making changes in their lives through the delivery of evidence-based psychological therapies. Other professionals such as counsellors are able to deliver talking therapies and psychiatrists are medically trained doctors that can prescribe medication. Unique strengths of clinical psychologists are that they are trained in multiple models of therapy to doctoral level whilst conducting research in key related areas. Such research helps inform clinical practice and future treatment directions so Clinical Psychologists are well positioned to continually develop and refine the effectiveness of the individualised treatment approaches they provide to their clients.

Clinical Psychologists work according to best practice guidelines such as those produced by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the Department of Health (DoH). They are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC; PYL30422) which ensures a high level of competency and expertise through regulating health professionals’ practice in the UK. Dr Taylor is also a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS; 429029), an achievement of the highest standard of psychological knowledge and expertise legally recognised by the BPS. As such, Clinical Psychologists are bound by a professional code of ethics, that ensures confidentiality and professional conduct.
